To our Canadian Personnel
We are Walter and Sandra Moses of Ablaze MetalArt & Design, living and creating art on Vancouver Island, British Columbia and we feel compelled to do something meaningful for you our military personnel in Afghanistan at this time. We have presented our original metal art; one to the Military Museums in Calgary and one to Camp Mirage, the staging base for those going to Afghanistan. ![]() This is our unique design of the Canadian Maple tree in the outline of Canada and represents to us our national unity. Each individual leaf has 13 points and each point represents a province and territory in Canada, the multi-coloured leaves are for our multi-cultured country and the almost colourless trunk represents all of our fallen heroes. You that serve are the leaves, branches and trunk that help keep Canada Strong and Free. Walter who served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve as a young man and knows what it is like to be away from family while serving country and home; Sandra’s father (now deceased) was wounded while serving in WW II; give these trees with our heartfelt thanks to all the women and men that serve our great country. Our wish is for you all to return home safely, where ever that may be in Canada and that hopefully our gift helps bring Canada a little closer to you while you are away. As we are a brand new metal artisan company, being able to do this is a great honour and privilege for us. Again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, P.S: We found out that the personnel pictured above with our Canadian Pride piece (in Camp Mirage) were all from the CFB Comox, 19 Wing Comox, They are Capt Nick Van Berkel, MWO Brian McKay, MCpl Anna Hall, MCpl Ernie Bezaire & Cpl Ben Cartwight (unfortunately we are not sure if this is in the correct order). |
