Meet the Artists

Artists Sandra and Walter Moses are the creative force behind Ablaze MetalArt & Design. Sandra uses her inspiration and inherent artistic ability to create this fine art in beautiful, distinctive designs upon which Walter works his magic. Walter brings over 37 years of experience working with steel. He has combined his experience and artistic ability to the cutting and finishing of these unique hand-crafted pieces out of mostly steel and aluminium.

Honouring their Native American heritage

Sandra is Coast Salish (Musqueam) heritage from the Hwilitsum band in Ladner, BC and Walter is Delaware heritage originally from the Six Nations in Southern Ontario. Native art is part of their extensive repertoire. The designs in this facet of their metal artwork reflect Sandra's First Nation's West Coast (Musqueam) origins: Whale, Raven and Frog among others.

Art Process

Once the creating and designing of the art work is completed by Sandra, it is then transferred to the CNC plasma machine where Walter continues to work his magic. There are seven or more steps after the original creating and designing to get the desired individually finished metal art pieces; each art piece has 4 separate stages of grinding and buffing to get the desired look and swirl for the next steps; cleaning and applying the unique patinas which are another couple of steps of the colouration. The metal art pieces are then coated with a high quality protective coating, being the final step to completing the distinctive finish on each piece. If more durability is required for out of doors art work, they can have a special coating put on those piece/s upon request. The art pieces can be used in home, business, &/or garden as wall hangings, free standing art, sculptures, signage & business signage, garden accessories; security insets for windows & doors; insets for gates, fireplace screens, doors & windows screens; Signage & Logos; gifts or novelties, to name a few.
